In Agriculture, we provide comprehensive analytical services for soil, plant tissue, feed, fertilizer, and water. Services include production recommendations, remote sensing, and precision agriculture capabilities. The company operates two laboratories serving clients throughout Canada, the US, and Internationally.

The Business Development Representative is responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies to increase revenues and fulfill profit objectives. This individual is responsible for achieving quarterly/annual sales goals, developing distribution channels, building strategic business relationships, formulating innovative business development strategies and for executing all sales strategies.

The company is currently seeking organized, results-driven, high-energy, detailed-oriented, and committed individuals for Manitoba and Saskatchewan market areas.

Minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday thru to Friday corresponding with Spring and Fall seasonal demands.

  • 1. Identify, develop, and nurture existing and new business relationships to maximize sales opportunities;
  • 2. Present and sell company program and services to new and existing prospects;
  • 3. Maximize sales relationships and opportunities with key customer accounts primarily through face to face interactions
  • 4. Maintain brand integrity of the company and strategically position the company as a trusted source for services while establishing and ensuring its status as an industry leader;
  • 5. Implement consistent and cohesive messaging in all sales and marketing communications and presentations;
  • 6. Provide timely response to resolve any customer issues to meet needs as outlined by the Customer Service team;
  • 7. Maintain regular and timely communications with Senior Management via weekly report;
  • 8. Deliver results in key performance areas: cost management, productivity improvement, continuous improvement, and etc.;
  • 9. Monitor evaluate and report on competitor activities including competitive portfolio, SWOT analysis and make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.
  • 10. Coordinate company presence at all relevant trade and industry shows and events;
  • 11. Execute on customer training programs to build competency in using company products and services
  • 12. Adhere to and enforce all company policies and procedures;
  • 1. Passionate about sales and driving new client acquisitions;
  • 2. Excels at making connections with business owners and key decision makers (network and build relationships);
  • 3. Ambitious, confident, competitive, and coachable;
  • 4. Active listener as well as effective communicator;
  • 5. Ability and desire to influence others;
  • 6. Strong negotiator;
  • 7. Deadline and detail-oriented;
  • 8. Efficient in planning, organizing, and implementation of sales programs;
  • 9. Proven ability to work independently in a remote situation and as a team member in a fast-paced environment;
  • 10. Previous experience in an agricultural business setting preferred;
  • 11. Excellent communication skills- written and verbal,
  • 12. Follow and advise employees on company health & safety and applicable policies and procedures;
  • 13. Must possess a valid class G Driver's License with availability of transportation.
  • 1. University degree in Agriculture/Agronomy; Or University Degree in Natural Sciences/Diploma in Agriculture
  • 2. CCA certification;
  • 3. Minimum 5 years industry experience in Agronomy/Technical sales
  • 4. Willing and able to travel to trade shows and conferences (including setup & tear down booths/tents);
  • 5. Willing to travel frequently throughout the province of Manitoba and/ or Saskatchewan, occasionally across Canada
  • 6. Possess a valid Canadian passport
