9:00 - 10:30 amThis Back to Basics seminar will cover soil structure including composition (sand, silt, clay), organic matter, cation exchange, and soil organisms and their effect on crop nutrition. In this section we will discuss how plants take up nutrients and conditions that restrict nutrient availability to the crop.
10:30 - 10:45 amBreak
10:45 - 12:00 amThis section of the program will cover soil test interpretation and soil properties that effect nutrient availability such as soil pH, BpH, C.E.C., percent saturation of cations and P saturation and the optimum levels of nutrients in soils for optimum crop performance.
12:00 - 1:00 pmWorking lunch open discussion.
1:00 - 2:00 pmNPK - How to make recommendations based off of a soil test. Soil build and removal recommendations for corn, soybeans and wheat. Where and when to use various fertilizer products.
2:00 - 3:00 pmTechnology Update - An in depth look at the capabilities of the A&L Canada Dataweb, VRT (Variable Rate Technology), and other tools that will help you get more out of your soil and plant tissue test.
3:00 - 3:15 pmBreak
3:15 - 4:15 pmPest Management (Keri Wang)
4:15 - 5:00 pmWrap up and questions. Bring a soil test in and we can discuss it.
